Used for an extremely short period of time in the 1939-1940 period (the division was formed in October 1939), this was worn briefly by NCO members of the unit, at about the same time (less than a year) when they wore color-piped visors throughout the newly formed Waffen SS.  Purchased originally from Atonio Scapini, this piece exhibits the exact same piping as found on Army Panzer Tabs.  Stitched with the "thicker" thread normally (but not always) found on examples.  With a bullion skull selling for $3500 to $4000, and this skull FAR rarer, it's relatively speaking, a bargain.
