This exquisite cross was part of a "Schloss Klessheim" hoard.  For those who are not aware, this castle in Austria was the repository for many high-level decorations which had been stored there as the war drew to a close.  Veterans from various units are commonly found in possession of several types of medals, including the Knight's Cross series, the German Cross series, the War Merit cross series, and others.  This "Lazy 2" specimen (named because of the sideways "2" code stamped on the frame) is in virtually flawless condition.  One tiny spot on the stove-pipe matte black paint, but otherwise, nearly perfect.  "Jump Ring" - the loop that the ribbon threads through, is correctly 800 marked.  Housed in the original black case featuring an 8-segmented hinge.  Cross is stored in an original carton, which was NOT part of this original grouping, but is correct for the cross (it's available separately on elsewhere on our website).
