This visor cap was worn by the doorman at the Dakota on the night John Lennon was assassinated.  Purchased just hours after the assassination by a devoted fan who, hearing of the Lennon shooting, rushed to the Dakota to be at ground zero of this world-music tragedy.  Desperate for something to connect with, he talked his way through the crowd, pretended to be a resident, and purchased the cap and whistle from the doorman.  Fascinating piece of world history.
