Description

On July 2, 1936, Himler led a major Naiz ceremony taking Quedlinburg Abbey and Castle to mark the 1000th anniversary of the death of King Henry 1 (Henry the Fowler), whom Himmler viewed as the first and most important German king.German SS Quedlinburg Badge dated 2 July 1936, commemorating King Heinrich I of Germany (919-936). This badge commemorates that event. The rectangular silver--toned metal badge depicts a stylized profile of King Heinrich wearing a crown, with the twin spires of Quedlinburg Abbey in the background. These badges are constructed of 3 layers of metal sandwiched together. Both bronze and silver colored examples have been seen, consistent with the award of similar pieces based upon the person receiving the badge and their importance, rank or notoriety.
