German WWII Black Wound Badge. Oval cast metal badge features a German Stahlhelm over crossed swords with a swastika embossed on the helmet front, all within a laurel wreath border. The reverse shows a pin back fastening with a distinctive hook catch. Comes housed in its original fitted cardboard box. The Black Wound Badge was awarded to military personnel wounded by hostile action during World War II. This is a very nice example of a distinctive wartime German insignia.
