Otto Planetta (1899–1934) was an Austrian Nazi operative best known for assassinating Austrian Chancellor Engelbert Dollfuss during the failed Nazi coup known as the July Putsch. A World War I veteran who later joined the Nazi movement in Austria, Planetta became involved in underground efforts to overthrow the Austrian government after the party was banned. On July 25, 1934, he shot Dollfuss inside the Chancellery in Vienna, an act that briefly destabilized the country but ultimately failed to bring about a Nazi takeover at that time. He was quickly captured, tried, and executed by hanging just days later.

After the Anschluss, when the Nazi Party was legalized in Austria (and the SS established a foothold in the major cities), the 11th SS Standarte was named in honor of Planetta, and this cuff title was established.  Given that the war started in earnest very soon thereafter, the title was not used very often, and is therefore very rare today.  I have seen 5 of them in my decades of collecting and dealing.
