Purchased originally from Malcolm Fisher, owner of Regimentals, in 1990. According to the owner, only one other has been seen worldwide, but without dedication. Produced by the embroiderer Kathe Dorster, who made at least these two in 1940, before going to work for the firm of Hensel und Schulmann in Berlin. Housed in the original frame, and featuring a silver plaque which identifies this piece as having been a gift from Fieldmarshall Kurt Student, the commander of the 9th Fliegerkorps, to General Major Ringer for his successful assault on Crete in 1941. The embroidery is truly amazing - the photos don't do it justice given the reflections in the glass. Overall size is about 8x10. Historically significant, also a superb display for the combat badge collector.
