Description

Very nice pair of collar tabs from Austria.  The 89th Standarte was named after Franz Holzweber, an Austrian SS member executed for his role in the Dollfuss assassination/failed Nazi coup of July 1934.  These tabs would have been worn on a black SS Uniform after the annexation in March 1938 (prior to that, the SS had basically been an illegal organization in Austria).  Note; The buckram is a slightly different color, but the stitching leads me to believe that these tabs were assembled by the same tailor, and are a matching set (the piping is identical as well).  Remember: manufacturers were not making collectibles, they were making insignia designed to be sewn on uniforms!
