This is an exquisite piece that was carried by SS Officers prior to the creation of the 1936 pattern SS Officer Degen which was produced starting in late 1935. Other silver-hilted sword were used by Land Customs service (green eyes usually), but this sword, with the unique political style eagle which was the eagle used on the early SS Visors and Kepis. Blade is pristine plated with the WKC trademark (impossible to photograph) underneath the cross guard langet. Hilt is heavy brass, with ornate detailing. Grip wire is tarnished silver, not the standard copper or brass grip wire found on army style swords. Knot is the type which is found on early SS Swords, SS attributed bayonets, and the like. Overall length is 39 inches. Swords of this type appear in Wittmann's book on SS blades, and he sells them for upwards of $8000 and up. Knot is the typThis one is value priced.
